From Erin Huffstetler, your Guide to Frugal Living

Living frugally makes for an interesting to-do list. The projects that we tackle in any given week help us to save money, but they also challenge and educate us. We are constantly learning new things and developing new skills. We are a group of doers and problem solvers.

What interesting things will you be working on this week? Here are some of the things that have made my to-do list:

Coupon Match-Up Printable

For years, I've written my coupon match-ups out on a piece of scrap paper, and it's always driven me a little nuts. When a reader recently asked me for advice about organizing her match-ups, I suddenly realized how useful a match-up printable would be (to me and probably to you, too). And so, the coupon match-up worksheet was born, It has enough columns to handle up to three coupons or discounts per item. Just print it; fill it in; and carry it with you to the store.

Inventory Your Pantry, Freezer and Stockpile

I pull things from my freezers, pantry and stockpile to use every week, but several times a year I like to do an inventory to figure out what we have on hand. It helps me to identify what we have too much of, what we have to little of and what we need to use soon. After inventorying our freezers, I'm now planning meals around the things that we have an excess of (green beans and peppers will be a regular feature in our meals).

Seed Starting Tracker

I'm transitioning to using only heirloom seeds in my garden, but until I work through my seed stash, I'll have a mix of heirloom and hybrid plants. To keep up with which seeds I need to save, I used my seed starting tracker worksheet to list everything that I've planted -- and I made a notation next to all of the heirloom varieties.

Make Your Yard Sale Want List

I dug my youngest daughter's summer clothes out of storage, so she could try everything on and figure out what still fits. The outgrown clothes will be sold at a consignment sale, and any gaps in her wardrobe will be noted on our yard sale shopping list.
